INFINITY - What’s in a name…

Infinity Hot Yoga came into being in 2016 when we took over the studio from the previous owners, Linda Condron and Sean McNamee.

Our new studio needed a name, and not just any old name, it had to be a name that made sense on many levels.

As you know finding the right name is a big responsibility… we needed to find a name that would fit, one that wouldn’t be misconstrued, warped or slagged and one that made sense.

We tried on names like Maynooth Hot Yoga, hot yoga maynooth, M4 Hot Yoga, Junction 7 etc… but none of them felt right.

As well as having to find a name we also had to find a logo to go with the name, again, it needed to be clean, clear and to connect with the chosen name.

So after much soul searching, banging of heads and pulling hair out (Mitch..🤣)

EUREKA! ‘Infinity’ ...

Yes! INFINITY it made sense…

First of all, it is it’s own logo ♾, yes! And as if that wasn’t enough…

∞ Infinity is a concept referring to that which is boundless, endless, or larger than any number. Also, a time or space that has no end.

∞ The infinity symbol is associated with love, spirituality and meditation, where it is used to remind us of balance, focus, harmony, peace, and oneness.

∞ Infinity is important to cosmology, the science of the origin and development of the universe, and connection with the universe is one of the higher philosophical goals of a meditative yoga practice.

∞ It is a mathematical concept used in science, representing our love of learning and knowledge.

∞ Though not around as long as Yoga, infinity is an ancient philosophical concept that was first recorded in Greek philosophy over 2000 years ago.

∞ The word infinity, brings with it the lovely image of an infinity pool, a place of calmness, serenity and relaxation. A space where you can surrender and let go.

∞ And lastly before we get too up ourselves… keeping us grounded and balanced there is that other image associated with infinity, the one that always makes me smile, brought to us by Toy Story…

Speaking of which have you seen our Buzz Lightyear? He hangs out in reception and no, I don’t mean Mitch, Alan, John or Bobby 🤣😂

Here we are, 6 years later, and because of you INFINITY has grown beyond hot yoga, we now have three strands to Infinity, Infinity Hot Yoga, Infinity Recovery and Infinity Wellness and we have a shiny new version of our logo.
